Focused Report

Comprehensive Standard 3.12.1

The institution notifies the Commission of changes in accordance with the substantive change policy and, when required, seeks approval prior to the initiation of changes. (Substantive change).

Off-Site Committee Finding

ASU has submitted 20 substantive change reports to the Commission on Colleges since 1998. The Compliance Report also notes that although reports have been prepared in accordance with Commission requirements, they have not all been submitted in accordance with timelines specified in the substantive change policy with regard to implementation of changes. The University, claiming "partial compliance" to 3.12.1, has instituted an approval process which it believes will address this problem. The On-Site Committee should review the development and implementation of the new approval process and that substantive changes are reported in a timely manner.
