Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness Assessment Model At Albany State University the new assessment model we established and implemented has three components which together demonstrate effectiveness through the assessment and improvement of: (1) mission goal outcomes at the institutional level; (2) student learning outcomes at the program level; and (3) educational support outcomes at the unit level. At the institutional level, ASU assesses mission goal outcomes across programs, service units and campuses. Academic programs assess student learning outcomes at the program level and educational support units assess effectiveness in contributing to an atmosphere conducive to learning. At the institutional level, ASU assess the university strategic goal and provides a framework for the university to evaluate its effectiveness in fulfilling its mission at the institutional level. The Student Learning Outcomes Assessment component provides a framework in which college instructional programs can demonstrate the improvement of student learning through the systematic and ongoing assessment of student learning outcomes and demonstrating how the results are being used to improve student learning. The Educational Support Outcomes Assessment component provides a framework in which educational support units can demonstrate the improvement of service delivery outcomes through the assessment of process and learning outcomes.
